I’m a Qigong, Karate, and Kobudo teacher based in the UK — a 4th Dan Black Belt and former English Champion. Safe to say, I’m passionate about movement and helping people feel energised through it!

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced chi-gong) is an easy-to-learn, whole body exercise with a focus on co-ordinating breathing with movement. It seeks to deliver a healthy, supple body whilst also improving cardiovascular fitness, strength and balance.

In Chinese, ‘Qi’ is your natural ‘life energy’ and ‘Gong’ means ‘accomplishment through just the right amount of effort.’  Qigong cultivates your natural energy, and the skill you build gives a real and powerful sense of fulfilment.

Qigong is intended to be done regularly – not only is it a fantastic part of any self-care routine, you are also embarking on an incredible journey of self-cultivation.

Scientific studies have shown Qigong to improve such things as fatigue, sleep quality, chronic pain, COPD, anxiety and depression. Above all though, QIGONG is FUN!

Your Teacher

Alex Carter is a life-long martial artist, a karate, kobudo and qigong teacher based in the UK with 25 years’ professional experience – a 4th dan Black Belt in Karate and kobudo and former English Champion.

Inspired by the masters she learnt from, she has travelled the world over 3 decades from Taiwan to Okinawa to study with the most talented masters of Karate, Kobudo, Qigong, Kung Fu and Tai Chi.  The term ‘Sensei’ literally means “someone who has been there before” – Alex really has.

She has collated her favourite elements from each discipline to produce genuinely energising classes. Each session builds a new layer of skill, meaning your effort always comes with reward.
